Locate.
Your family's location stays in your family. Phone tracking, pet GPS, vehicle location, geofencing, and presence detection. All on your server, all under your control.
Phone tracking
The Home Assistant companion app reports location from the background. No Life360, no Google Location History. Your location data stays on your server.
Pet & vehicle GPS
Meshtastic GPS nodes communicate over long-range radio mesh. No cellular plan, no monthly fee, no third-party server. Works in areas with no cell coverage.
Geofencing & presence
Automate based on who’s home. Lights on when you arrive, alarm armed when everyone leaves. Zones, history, and maps on your dashboard.
What you get.
No data harvesting
Your location history never leaves your home. Nobody is selling it, profiling you, or handing it to law enforcement without your knowledge.
No subscriptions for tracking
Life360 charges $8-15/month for features Haven Locate does for free on your own hardware. Pet GPS services charge monthly for cellular. Meshtastic nodes cost nothing to operate.
Works offline
Meshtastic GPS runs on radio mesh, not internet. Your pet trackers keep working when your ISP goes down, in rural areas, and anywhere LoRa signal reaches.
What to know first.
Phone tracking requires buy-in
Every family member needs the Home Assistant companion app installed and running. If someone doesn’t want it on their phone, Locate doesn’t track them. This is a feature, not a bug, but it means the whole family has to be on board.
Pet GPS has range limits
Meshtastic nodes rely on LoRa radio, which has a range of roughly 1-3 miles in residential areas (more with line of sight). If your pet goes beyond mesh range, you lose tracking until they come back in range. This is not a cellular tracker with nationwide coverage.
No remote access without setup
If you want to check locations from outside your home network, you need remote access configured. Subscribers get this managed. Self-hosters need a VPN or tunnel. On your local network, everything works out of the box.
Service area.
Haven is currently serving the greater Seattle and Snohomish County area in Washington state. That includes Arlington, Marysville, Lake Stevens, Everett, and surrounding communities. We do in-home installation and setup, so proximity matters for now. Expanding soon.
If you’re outside our area but want to self-host, everything Haven uses is open source. We publish our configurations and guides for free. You don’t need us to build this.
